The Warriors Academy founded by Pastor Jennifer Cruz is on a mission to empower girls who have been victims of gender-based violence.
Gender-based violence is a prevalent issue that affects millions of girls and women around the world. It includes physical, sexual, emotional, and psychological abuse, and it is a violation of basic human rights. Many girls who have experienced this type of violence often face numerous challenges, such as low self-esteem, lack of education, and financial dependence.
Pastor Jennifer Cruz recognized the need to address these issues and provide a safe space for girls to heal and thrive. Her mission is to bring them in and empower them, not just through material assistance, but also through education and skills training. She believes that true empowerment comes from within and that by equipping these girls with the necessary skills and knowledge, they can break the cycle of violence and become self-sufficient. She has dedicated to giving these girls a hand up, not just a handout.
One of the ways Pastor Jennifer Cruz is empowering these girls is through sewing classes. Many of these girls come from impoverished backgrounds and lack the means to support themselves financially. By teaching them how to sew, she is giving them a valuable skill that can help them earn a living and provide for their families.
But these sewing classes are not just about learning a skill; they also serve as a form of therapy for the girls. Sewing requires focus and concentration, which can help them quiet their minds and escape from the trauma they have experienced. It also gives them a sense of accomplishment and boosts their self-confidence.
The mission also extends beyond providing skills training. She believes that education is key to breaking the cycle of violence and empowering these girls. By giving them a chance to continue their education but also providing them with a sense of hope for a better future.
Pastor Jennifer Cruz's work has had a profound impact on the lives of many girls. Through her organization, she has helped dozens of girls heal from their past traumas and become independent and resilient individuals. Her hand-up approach has not only given these girls the means to support themselves but has also restored their sense of dignity and self-worth.
However, Pastor Jennifer Cruz's mission is not without its challenges. The issue of gender-based violence is deeply rooted in society, and changing mindsets and breaking cultural norms takes time. But with dedication and perseverance, she continues to make a difference in the lives of these girls
